REGGIE'S CAUSE

Reggie's
Story.
Reggie was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) — a rare and complex congenital condition. Within days of birth, he underwent major open-heart surgery. At just two years old, he received the ultimate gift: a lifesaving heart transplant.
Now five years post-transplant, Reggie continues to navigate life with complex medical needs, but he does so with incredible strength, neurodivergent brilliance, and an unstoppable smile. His journey — filled with courage, setbacks, laughter, and love — is what inspired everything that came next.

Who We Are
Reggie’s Cause is a grassroots, family-led initiative inspired by a little boy with a lionheart and a story that continues to touch lives. Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Reggie underwent major open-heart surgery just days after being born. After a challenging start to life and months in hospital, he received a lifesaving heart transplant at the age of two. Now five years post-transplant, Reggie is thriving. He still lives with complex medical needs and navigates life as a proud neurodivergent child — but he does so with bravery, humour, and a cheeky grin that lights up every room.
Our cause was created out of the raw, lived experience of being by Reggie's side. Long nights on children’s wards, the emotional toll of watching your child fight to survive, and the constant challenge of holding everything together for the whole family. It wasn’t just Reggie who needed support — it was us, his parents, and his little brother too. We created Reggie’s Cause because no family should have to face those moments alone. Whether it’s the shock of a diagnosis, the weight of chronic illness, or the daily challenges of neurodivergence, we want to offer something gentle, practical, and real — a hand to hold when life feels overwhelming.
Reggie’s Cause exists to support a wide circle of people: children with medical complexities or chronic illness, neurodivergent children and their siblings, families navigating transplant journeys, and professionals seeking trauma-informed tools. We believe that comfort and compassion should never be in short supply — especially when a child’s life is turned upside down.
Collaboration with Juvenis Books
One of the most powerful ways we’ve done this is through storytelling. Reggie’s journey, and those of children like him, deserve to be seen — not just in hospitals, but in classrooms, libraries, and homes.
That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with Juvenis Books, a publishing platform rooted in inclusion, neurodiversity, emotional literacy, and lived experience. Together, we’ve co-created children’s books, therapeutic journals, regulation tools, and downloadable resources designed to support families, educators, and healthcare professionals.
Many of these tools are included in our Reggie’s Cause projects — whether it’s comfort kits sent to children in hospital, peer support materials for schools, or creative packs used in our holiday clubs.

Get Involved.
Based in Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, we’re deeply rooted in our local community, but our reach now extends across the UK through online sales, donations, and the incredible support of individuals and organisations who believe in what we do. We rely entirely on generosity — of time, donations, creativity, and kindness.
You can support Reggie’s Cause in many ways: sponsor a comfort kit, purchase a book or Regemo Box, nominate a family in need, donate items or services, or host a small fundraiser in your school or workplace. Every act of support helps ensure that no child faces hospital, heartache, or hardship without a sense of comfort — and no family walks this road without someone beside them.
